REQUIREMENT

Daily GEX Paste Pack

GEX Levels is a lightweight charting layer for the daily OutsiderEdge GEX Paste Pack. It places the supplied gamma-related reference levels on the active market and can add higher-timeframe price references and simple regime context.

The indicator does not generate the proprietary GEX pack. The level-generation process is intentionally outside this Wiki. This page explains how to load, read and use the levels once supplied.

At a glance

What this indicator answers

  • Where are the supplied Call Wall and Put Wall?

  • Where is price relative to the Transition Level and Dealer Pivot?

  • Which supplied GD or C levels are nearest to price?

  • Do GEX levels overlap with higher-timeframe price levels?

Quick start

  1. Add the indicator to a supported chart.

  2. Paste the current OutsiderEdge GEX pack into the paste field.

  3. Confirm the chart symbol is the market you intend to view.

  4. Enable only the extra higher-timeframe levels you actually use.

  5. Read each GEX level as context; wait for price behavior around the level rather than assuming a touch must reverse.

How to read it

Call Wall

Upper gamma-related reference supplied in the daily pack. Often treated as an important overhead interaction area, not an automatic ceiling.

Put Wall

Lower gamma-related reference supplied in the daily pack. Often treated as an important downside interaction area, not an automatic floor.

Transition Level

A supplied regime/reference level used to frame whether price is trading above or below an important gamma transition.

Dealer Pivot

A supplied pivot/regime reference. Read it in combination with the Transition Level and current price.

GD1–GD4

Additional gamma-derived reference levels. Use proximity and confluence with other structure rather than the label alone.

C1–C4

Additional cluster/reference levels generated upstream. Their meaning is intentionally documented behaviorally, not by revealing the generation algorithm.

HTF levels

Optional previous-day, weekly and monthly price references that can reveal confluence with GEX structure.

Loading the GEX pack

Paste the current OutsiderEdge GEX pack exactly as supplied. The script maps supported ticker families to the relevant block. If no levels appear, first check that the pack contains the active chart market and that the pasted text has not been altered.

Reading the levels

The most important mistake to avoid is treating every GEX line as a guaranteed support/resistance level. Use the level as a location to observe behavior. A rejection, acceptance, repeated test or confluence with another reference tells you more than the label by itself.

What is intentionally not documented

The Wiki does not publish how OutsiderEdge generates GD1–GD4, C1–C4 or other upstream GEX pack values. Those values are an input to the indicator, not a formula for users to recreate.

Troubleshooting

Why are there no GEX lines?

Check that the current pack was pasted correctly and includes the chart’s market family.

Why is a level not acting as support/resistance?

GEX levels are contextual interaction areas, not guaranteed barriers. Read acceptance/rejection and broader structure.

Why do levels differ from yesterday?

The daily supplied pack can change as the underlying options context changes.

Documentation boundary

This page describes what the indicator exposes to the user and how to interpret it. It intentionally does not publish source code, proprietary formulas, hidden preset resolution, optimization search logic or enough internal logic to recreate the engine.
