Session Auction Map (SAM) is an auction-context indicator. It combines TPO structure, volume distribution, value, POCs, session VWAP, Initial Balance, prior levels, single prints and session classification into one view.
The correct way to use SAM is to understand where the market is accepting price, where it is rejecting price, and how the auction is developing. Signals and Trade Mode are optional layers on top of that context; SAM is not designed to be treated as a blind buy/sell indicator.

What this indicator answers
Where is the current session accepting value?
Where has the auction moved quickly or left poor acceptance?
How are TPO and volume control positioned relative to each other?
Is value migrating higher, lower or remaining balanced?
Which prior session references remain untested?
Is the session behaving more like balance, expansion or directional trade?
Quick start
Add SAM to the chart.
Choose the session window and timezone appropriate to the market you are studying.
Start with Experience = Advanced if Professional feels too busy.
Use a Strategy Preset only on its intended symbol/timeframe.
Read POC, value, VWAP and Initial Balance before paying attention to signals.
How to read it
TPO profile
Shows how much time/rotation the auction spent through price areas.
Volume profile
Shows where traded volume concentrated within the session.
TPOC / VPOC
Control prices from the TPO and volume views. Their location and separation provide different information about time versus volume acceptance.
VAH / VAL
Boundaries of the selected value area. Repeated trade inside value suggests acceptance; decisive trade away from value may indicate migration or expansion.
Value migration
Visualizes the relationship between important control/value references as the session develops. Direction matters most when price action confirms it.
Session VWAP
A session-average price reference. Use its slope, position and interaction as context rather than a standalone signal.
Initial Balance
The early session range. Later trade beyond it helps frame expansion and session development.
Single prints / tails
Areas associated with fast auction movement or rejection. Untested areas can remain useful references.
Prior / naked levels
Important references carried forward until tested according to the active settings.
Dashboard
Summarizes VWAP bias, value location, day type, IB status, naked levels and nearest structural context.
Interpretation notes
TPO versus Volume
TPO and volume answer related but different questions. TPO emphasizes how the auction distributed time/rotation; Volume Profile emphasizes where volume concentrated. A TPOC and VPOC at different prices is therefore useful information rather than an error.
POC and Value
A POC inside overlapping value is usually different context from a POC migrating steadily with price. Ask whether value is building, shifting or being abandoned.
Single Prints and tails
Treat these as evidence of fast auction movement or rejection. They become more useful when later price interacts with them; they are not automatic reversal zones.
Day type / dashboard
The dashboard summarizes the session. Use it after looking at the auction itself, not instead of looking at the chart.
Troubleshooting
Why is the chart too busy?
Switch Experience to Advanced or Simple before manually disabling many modules.
Why do TPOC and VPOC differ?
They measure different distributions: time/rotation versus volume. Separation can be informative.
Why did a prior level disappear or stop extending?
The prior-level logic can mark a level as tested according to its active interaction rule.
Why are there no Trade Mode visuals?
Preset mode requires a valid active Strategy Preset. Custom requires an eligible signal plus Trade Visuals enabled.

Settings reference
Experience

Selects a visual complexity preset.
Change this to simplify or expand the chart without manually toggling each supported visual.
Visual-only unless the indicator explicitly says otherwise.
Strategy Preset

Loads a validated configuration for a supported market/timeframe.
Use only when your chart matches the preset label.
Do not treat presets as universal settings for other symbols or timeframes.
Optimization Run

Shows the indicator’s validation/optimization information panel.
Hide it when you need more chart space.
The Wiki does not publish the hidden search process behind presets.
Trade Mode

Controls whether native analytical labels or B/S trade-plan visuals are shown.
Use Off for pure analysis, Preset for an active preset, or Custom for supported manual risk/reward settings.
Trade Mode is a visualization/execution layer; it does not turn the indicator into guaranteed trade automation.
Custom Stop Loss

Sets the stop distance used by Custom Trade Mode.
Change only when you intentionally want a different risk model.
This affects trade-plan visualization/backtest behavior, not the quality of the underlying signal.
Custom Take Profit

Sets the reward target used by Custom Trade Mode.
Adjust when testing a different reward multiple.
A larger target generally trades frequency of wins for larger potential R.
Trade Visuals

Shows entry, stop and target visuals for Trade Mode.
Hide when you want B/S labels without the full position graphics.

Trade History

Controls how many historical trade-plan visuals are retained.
Reduce it if the chart becomes visually crowded.
TradingView has object limits, so very large histories can displace older visuals.
Signal Source

Selects which supported structure is allowed to generate native interaction signals.
Use this to focus the indicator on the context you actually trade.
Selecting fewer sources reduces signal variety; it does not make remaining signals certain.
Session Window
session
Defines or controls the relevant trading/session time window.
Change when studying another market session or execution period.
Always verify timezone before changing session hours.
Session Timezone

Sets the timezone used to interpret configured session windows.
Change when the chart/session should follow another market timezone.
IANA timezone choices handle daylight-saving changes automatically where applicable.
Session Name

Sets the label used for the configured session.
Rename it when you use a custom session definition.
Label only; it does not change the session hours.
Show Name

Enables or disables Name.
Toggle this when name is or is not part of your workflow.
Turning a filter off can materially increase the number of eligible events; turning a visual off only hides it.
Name Color
color
Controls the color used for this visual element.
Change only for chart readability or personal theme preference.
Visual-only; it does not affect calculations.
Name Size

Changes the displayed text/marker size.
Adjust for screen size and readability.

Price Rows
int
Controls vertical aggregation/resolution of the profile or footprint display.
Increase aggregation for a smoother view; reduce aggregation for more detail where supported.
More detail can increase visual noise and calculation load.
Value Area

Controls or displays the portion of profile activity treated as value.
Change only when your profile methodology intentionally uses a different value definition.
Avoid tuning value area simply to fit a preferred historical outcome.
Full Profiles

Controls how many complete historical profiles remain visible.
Reduce for a cleaner chart or increase when you need more prior-session context.
Display retention is still limited by TradingView object budgets.
POC History
int
Controls how many historical POC references are retained.
Increase when you want more prior control-price context; reduce for a cleaner chart.
Display/history setting.
Session Bars
int
Sets the maximum bar budget used to build/process the session profile.
Increase only when the configured session can contain more bars than the current limit.
Performance/safety setting; it is not the session duration itself.
