Sessions Visualized

Sessions Visualized is the simplest way to add time-of-day context to an OutsiderEdge chart. It marks the major trading sessions and can display their developing ranges, names, volume context and session-level directional flow.

Use it when your first question is when is the market active, which session created the current range, and how does the next session interact with it? It is a context tool, not a standalone entry model.

Quick start

1. Add Sessions Visualized to the chart.

2. Set Session Timezone to the timezone you want the session windows interpreted in.

3. Keep Asia, London and New York enabled initially.

4. Enable Boxes, Names and Range so session structure is obvious.

5. Only enable the CVD and volume panels when you want the extra context.

How to read it

Session box

The high/low area developed during the configured session. Use it to see containment, expansion and later tests.

Session name

Identifies which configured session created the range.

Range

The session high-to-low distance. Compare it with later sessions rather than treating a large range as automatically bullish or bearish.

Session CVD bars

Directional-flow context for the session. Read it together with price response; divergence or agreement can be more useful than the sign alone.

Volume dashboard

A compact view of session volume/activity using the configured intrabar sampling.

Upcoming session

Projects the next configured session window so you know when a structural hand-off is approaching.

Interpretation notes

Session ranges
A prior session high or low is useful because it tells you where that session stopped auctioning, not because every high/low must reverse. Watch whether the next session rejects the boundary, accepts outside it or completely ignores it.

Session CVD
Treat the CVD display as directional-flow context. Agreement between price and flow can support continuation context; disagreement can be useful as a warning that the move is not as clean as price alone suggests. Avoid converting a single CVD sign into an automatic long/short call.

Upcoming session
The projection is primarily a timing aid. It tells you a new session hand-off is approaching so you can prepare for changes in liquidity and participation.

Troubleshooting

Why are the session boxes at the wrong time?

Check Session Timezone first. The session window is interpreted in that timezone, not necessarily your local clock.

Why do I not see an old session?

Increase Sessions To Keep if available, but remember TradingView object limits and chart history still apply.

Why does CVD not match a different orderflow tool exactly?

Different tools can aggregate or estimate directional flow differently. Compare the purpose and data source before expecting identical values.
